A Summer of Learning Fun for All!

Conservation Camp: For the 24th year running, another super successful Conservation Camp was held in July at our Tropical Education Center. 21 bright young Belizeans joined us on an exciting adventure to explore and celebrate our country's natural heritage, and learn ways to become better stewards of it for years to come!

TBZ would like to thank all our partners and colleagues who joined in to make last week such a memorable experience. And, of course, our campers and their parents/guardians who participated this year. We are already planning exciting new experiences for next year for the Silver Jubilee of "Zoo Camp" at 25!

Summer Teachers’ Institute: Summertime is always a high energy time of year for both the Zoo and our Tropical Education Center. Summer camps, interns, study abroad groups and more keep us occupied and inspired as we broaden the impact of conservation efforts in Belize through the growing network of friends and colleagues. August added another layer to our Summer programs with the rejuvenation of TBZ's teacher workshops!

A small group of excellent educators joined us to explore themes of biological corridors and jaguar conservation. With the help of these talented teachers, the groundwork was laid for future sessions where lesson plans and classroom activities will be created to blend conservation concepts with our National Curriculum. A huge paws up to our teachers and partners who made it an exciting and productive week! Teachers, keep an eye out for more opportunities to get involved!
